The federal EVAP rebate can be claimed once per individual over the program's five years, not once per vehicle. Businesses and organizations can claim up to 10.

The rebate applies when the final transaction value is $50,000 or less. This is the total price you pay including add-ons, freight, and fees, not the sticker price. No rebate above $50,000, unless the vehicle is made in Canada, in which case there is no cap.

The federal rebate is deducted at the point of sale, after taxes and fees. You sign a consent form and attestation at the dealership. No separate claim is required after purchase.

The federal rebate drops from $5,000 to $4,000 for battery EVs in 2027 (PHEVs: $2,500 to $2,000). Some provincial programs are also decreasing through 2026.
